Can I bring a drone to Sweden?

Yes. All drones over 250g require registration with Transportstyrelsen. Drones under 250g exempt if no camera. Drone operator certificate required for most flights.

  • Drones over 250g: registration required (SEK 200, 3-year validity)

  • Drones under 250g: registration required if equipped with camera

  • Drone operator certificate required for drones over 250g (online exam, free)

  • No-fly zones: Stockholm city center (restricted), airports (5km), military zones, nature reserves

  • Flying over crowds, prisons, nuclear plants prohibited

  • Fines up to SEK 20,000 ($1,900) for first violation, higher for repeat
