Can I bring a drone to Thailand?

Yes, but strict registration required. Drones with cameras must be registered with NBTC and CAAT. Non-registration leads to confiscation and fines.

  • Drones over 2kg (4.4 lbs) banned for personal use

  • Registration required: NBTC (for radio frequency) and CAAT (for flight approval)

  • Insurance required (minimum coverage unclear but recommended)

  • No-fly zones: airports, government buildings, temples, national parks, crowds

  • Fines up to 100,000 THB ($2,700) and/or prison up to 5 years

  • Tourist drone registration can take 30-45 days, apply before travel
