Yes. Fire extinguisher is legal and recommended in all vehicles. No size or type restrictions for personal vehicles.

  • No state bans fire extinguisher transport

  • Common sizes: 2.5 lb, 5 lb, 10 lb all allowed

  • Must be secured to prevent rolling during driving (mounting bracket recommended)

  • ABC dry chemical type recommended for vehicle fires (gas, electrical, upholstery)

  • Check pressure gauge monthly, replace if gauge shows empty or recharge

  • Some states require commercial vehicles to carry extinguisher, personal vehicles optional but smart
