Can I bring pepper spray on a plane?

No, in carry-on. Pepper spray is allowed in checked bags only with restrictions.

  • Carry-on: pepper spray is prohibited 

  • Checked bags: one container up to 4 fl. oz. (118 ml) permitted

  • Must have a safety mechanism to prevent accidental discharge 

  • Self-defense sprays with more than 2% tear gas (CS or CN) are prohibited 

  • Check with your airline as some may not allow this item in checked bags
