Detailed Answer

Why Travel Towels Are Allowed

A travel towel is a piece of fabric. It contains no metal, no sharp edges, no liquids, and no batteries. It is not a weapon and not a hazardous material. No cruise line prohibits them. They are treated as standard personal items.

Why They Are Useful on a Cruise

Cruise ships provide pool towels and bath towels in your stateroom. However, a travel towel is useful in several situations. It takes up less space in your beach bag than a bulky ship towel. It dries faster, so you can pack it immediately after use. It is also useful for gym workouts, spa visits, and shore excursions where you want a lightweight towel that packs small.

Some cruise lines ask you to sign out pool towels with your keycard. If you lose a ship towel, you may be charged a fee. A travel towel eliminates that risk. You can also use it as a cover-up, a picnic blanket, or a pillow in a pinch.
