Can I cancel my travel insurance policy for a refund?

Most travel insurance policies offer a "free-look period" (usually 10-15 days) during which you can cancel for a full refund if you haven't departed and haven't filed a claim.

  • Free-look period: typically 10-15 days from purchase date

  • Full refund only if no claim has been filed and trip hasn't started

  • After free-look period, cancellation is generally not refundable

  • Some policies allow pro-rata refunds for annual policies

  • If you cancel your trip, your insurance premium may not be refundable

  • You cannot cancel a policy after filing a claim

  • Review policy wording for specific cancellation and refund terms
