Can I bring a drone to Panama?

Yes. All drones must be registered with AAC Panama. Drones over 2kg require special permits. The Panama Canal Zone is a strict no-fly area.

  • Registration with AAC (Autoridad Aeronáutica Civil) required for all drones

  • Drones over 2kg: special operational permit required (takes 30 days)

  • No-fly zones: Panama Canal Zone (strictly prohibited), Tocumen Airport approach (5km), Casco Viejo historic district, government buildings, crowds

  • No drone flights over Canal locks, bridges of the Americas

  • Maximum altitude 120m, must maintain visual line of sight

  • Fines from $500 to $10,000 USD depending on violation
