Can I bring a drone to Egypt?

No. Drones are effectively banned for tourists. Import requires military and civil aviation permits rarely granted to foreigners.

  • Personal drones confiscated at customs regardless of weight

  • Permit process requires approval from Ministry of Defense and Civil Aviation Authority

  • Permits take months and rarely approved for tourists

  • Confiscated drones not returned upon departure

  • Flying drone near archaeological sites carries additional fines up to 50,000 EGP ($1,600)

  • Do not bring drone to Egypt, leave it at home
