Can I bring a drone to Colombia?

Yes. Drones under 250g for recreational use have minimal restrictions. All drones with cameras must be registered with Aerocivil Colombia regardless of weight.

  • Registration with Aerocivil (Colombian Civil Aviation Authority) required for all drones with cameras

  • Drones under 250g without camera: no registration required

  • No-fly zones: airports (5km), Bogotá city center, military zones, government buildings, crowds

  • Cartagena historic center and walled city: drone flights restricted

  • Maximum altitude 120m, must maintain visual line of sight

  • Insurance required for drones over 2kg

  • Fines from 5 to 50 SMLMV (approximately $150 to $1,500 USD)
