You will need proof of the incident and proof of your losses. Typical documents include receipts, police reports, medical records, and airline delay letters.

  • For trip cancellation: doctor's note (for illness), death certificate (for family emergency), employer letter (for job loss), severe weather reports

  • For medical claims: hospital/doctor bills, itemized invoices, medical records, prescriptions

  • For baggage claims: police report (for theft), baggage claim tags, list of items and their value, purchase receipts

  • For travel delays: airline delay letters, hotel receipts, meal receipts, transportation receipts

  • For all claims: your policy number, confirmation of purchase, itinerary, proof of payment

  • Some policies require documentation within 24-48 hours of incident (especially medical emergencies)
