Can I bring a pair of scissors in my checked luggage?

Yes. Scissors of any size are allowed in checked luggage. In carry-on, scissors with blades under 4 inches from the pivot point are permitted.

  • Checked luggage: any scissors allowed (no blade length restriction)

  • Carry-on: scissors with blades shorter than 4 inches from the pivot point are allowed

  • Carry-on: scissors with blades 4 inches or longer are prohibited

  • Sharp scissors in checked bags should be sheathed or securely wrapped to prevent injury

  • Children's safety scissors (blunt tip) are always allowed in carry-on

  • TSA officer has final authority on whether scissors are allowed through checkpoint
