Can I bring a breast pump through TSA without a bag?

Yes. Breast pumps are medical devices and do not need to be in a separate clear bag. They can remain in your carry-on luggage.

  • TSA exempts breast pumps and breast milk from the 3-1-1 liquids rule, no size or quantity limits

  • Breast pumps can stay in your carry-on bag, no need to remove at screening

  • Breast milk, formula, and juice for your child are all allowed in reasonable quantities

  • Ice packs, freezer packs, and gel packs are allowed even if partially melted

  • You do not need a doctor's note, but some mothers carry one for international travel

  • TSA officers cannot ask you to taste or test your breast milk

  • Pump parts with milk residue are permitted, you do not need to wash them before screening
