Can I bring a baseball bat on a plane?

No, in carry-on. Baseball bats are prohibited in carry-on bags but permitted in checked luggage as sports equipment that can be used as a bludgeon.

  • Carry-on: prohibited

  • Checked bags: permitted

  • This applies to both full-sized bats and smaller souvenir versions

  • The TSA classifies bats and similar sports equipment as "bludgeoning objects"

  • Baseballs themselves are allowed in both carry-on and checked luggage

  • Basketballs, footballs, and soccer balls can also be carried in both types of bags
