Can I bring an aerosol can on a plane?

Yes, with restrictions. Aerosol toiletry articles (shaving cream, deodorant, hairspray) are permitted in both carry-on and checked bags. For carry-on, containers must be 3.4 oz or less and fit in quart-sized bag. For checked bags, total quantity per person cannot exceed 2 kg (70 oz) per person, and each container cannot exceed 0.5 kg (18 oz) .

  • Carry-on: 3.4 oz (100ml) limit per container, all fit in one quart-sized bag 

  • Checked bags: total aggregate quantity per person cannot exceed 2 kg (70 oz) or 2 L (68 fl oz), each container max 0.5 kg (18 oz) 

  • Aerosol release devices (button/nozzle) must be protected by caps to prevent accidental release 

  • Flammable or non-medicinal aerosols (paint, cooking spray) may have additional restrictions

  • The final decision rests with the TSA officer
